Dental Benefits: Use Them or Lose Them!

Written by Northwest Oral Content Team | Nov 17, 2020 3:30:00 PM

Millions of people lose money come January by not using their dental benefits by the end of the year. If you have insurance, you pay for it all year long, so why not make sure you are getting your money's worth by using your benefits before the year ends? You might have benefits through your insurance plan, or you might have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) that may need to be used by the end of the year.

  • You’ve been paying insurance premiums all year long, why forfeit unused benefits? When the year ends, so do 2020 benefits. Don't lose your hard-earned money on insurance that you don't use.
  • You’ve met your deductible. If you've already met your deductible this year, take advantage of it! Schedule appointments now before you have to meet a new deductible in 2021.
  • Delaying necessary dental treatment and surgeries is never a good idea! Sooner or later you will have to address a decaying tooth, painful wisdom teeth, or required extractions. If you're not in need of a procedure now, make sure you've scheduled your regular, bi-annual dental visits that are necessary for prevention and maintaining a healthy smile!

Most insurance plans have a benefit deadline of December 31, meaning you'll lose them if you don't use them before December 31st. However, some insurance plans may have a different benefit deadline so make sure to check with your insurance provider (or ask your employer) to be sure.
